The
spectacle of the parade is both a collective effort and the absorption
of its individual participants. They are organic in that they exist
solely because of human participation. The performers feed off the
crowds, and vice versa. By isolating small groups and individual figures
in the parades, I expose the individual roles and states of mind that,
combined, create the parade. The photographs show not only the parade’s
spectacle and fanfare, but also the solitude and weariness of its
performers.
